The works was situated within Sections 3 and 4 of National Route 6 in Queenstown, Eastern Cape, between the Ezibeleni intersection on the south-east (East London/Cathcart) side of Queenstown (Section 3 km 55+600), and JJ Serfontein High School (Section 4 km 1+880). The works was split into three sections:
Sections B, from the new roundabout at the Ezibeleni intersection to Hertzog road (km 56+150 to 57+552), including rehabilitation/reconstruction and widening of the road – over – rail bridge without the closure thereof.
Section D, from Griffith street to the R61 intersection through the Queenstown CBD (Section 3 km 59+100 to Section 4 km 0+860), including the installing of two watermains and subsoil drains. The rehabilitation/reconstruction of the four travelled lanes and asphalt surfacing of the full road width was particularly challenging. The vehicular access to business was a priority.
Section E, from the R61 to km 0+860, included selective patching of failed areas, and a Cape seal, applied to the full road width.
